Heritage Vote

Welcome to the Heritage Educational Foundation 2021 Vote Hub. Here, you’ll find all the information and documents related to the proposal and subsequent vote to wind-up the Heritage Group and Self-Determined Plans, transferring your existing RESPs to Knowledge First’s Family Single Student Plan, an individual RESP plan.

Why your vote was important

The choice that customers made to move to the Family Single Student Plan is a decision that is giving you more control of your plan and creating more certainty about what you will have in your RESP when it comes time for your student to attend post-secondary school.

The Board of Directors of the Heritage Educational Foundation strongly recommended the vote in favour of this change.

The Heritage Educational Foundation held a special meeting via Zoom on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. EDT for all Heritage Group Plan subscribers and at 1:00 p.m. EDT for all Self-Determined Plan subscribers.  Customers also had the option of voting in advance of the special meeting by phone, email or mail using their Proxy Form.

To carry the proposed changes, a majority of votes cast in favour of the transfer by the Group Plan and Self-Determined Plan customers was required.

The results of the vote were positive with 70.70% of Group Plan customers voting in favour and 95.63% of Self-Determined Plan customer voting in favour.

The press release of the vote results can be found here.

With the completion of the vote Knowledge First will begin the process to transfer the Heritage Group Plans to the Knowledge First Family Single Student Plan. This transfer will not take place until 2022.  In the meantime, your Heritage Group Plans will still operate and are accessible to you with no changes.
